Education is everyone’s right. It is one of the most crucial areas of empowerment for any human being. An educated person can contribute greatly to the society’s development. Delhi University is one of the greatest universities in India which provides the students a golden opportunity to fulfill their dreams by making themselves educated and hence, they can contribute to the welfare of the society. There are around 90 colleges under DU which are doing a commendable job by providing education to a large number of students by charging an affordable fees.

Ram Lal Anand College is one such college under Delhi University which is playing a tremendous role by encouraging the students to make their careers in various fields. It is a co-educational college where equal number of opportunities are provided to both the boys as well as the girls.

The Department of Computer Science of RLA is well known for its faculty. They are experienced as well as very friendly who always encourage their students to do better. However, we all are aware of the unbalanced sex ratio in our country and unfortunately, this could even be seen in the CS department of RLA. The present ratio of girls to boys, here, is 1:7 which is something everyone should be concerned about today.

Time has changed now and girls who are trusted and supported by their parents and families are doing wonders in every field. But, unfortunately, there still exists a major part of our population who is responsible for this unbalanced sex ratio even at a place of education like Delhi University. The major difference can be seen in technical courses such as electronic or computer science. The major reasons behind this are :
Orthodox mindset which still believes that girls should stay at home and learn to cook, etc.

Many girls are sent to colleges to just attain a degree. So, they don’t opt for a field like computer science.
This can be seen in other engineering colleges or technical institutions also but remains unnoticed and ignored.

People should understand the importance of education, especially for girls. This would make them self-independent and they would be able to share the responsibility of men in every walk of life. Education will not only change their way of thinking, but will also help them in improving their life and the life of their family.

  1. Well, it's abundantly joyful to note that the girls of our nation are ruling in various fields. And i strongly believe that the girls do have a certain important role in our community and they must also get the equal opportunities and exposure required to master any field. And nothing sure can be said about the parents who make their child beleive such ridiculous thoughts that they cannot succeed and need not gain much education. The females must not get disheartened by these beliefs and ideas and see those as challenges to face, and with a strong determination i believe nothing in this world is unachievable. 👍🏻🌸
