Delhi University has a provision for Inter-College Migration which is a great way for undergraduate students to change colleges without wasting an academic year. It acts as a second lifeline for students who wish to shift to a more suited college environment for themselves.
So, make it a point to work hard in your first year as the procedure of migration mainly rests on the percentage/grade secured in first year.
On paper, every college in Delhi University allows inter-college migration in the same degree course. But a closer look at the provisions state that migration is a permissive facility and not an obligatory one. It all depends on the concerned incoming and outgoing colleges. Individual colleges may release their own eligibility criteria. A student’s percentage/grade in the first year is one of the most important factors which determines whether one is eligible to migrate to a certain college or not. So make it a point to work hard in your first year examinations.
It is not an easy task to do and can get cumbersome. Since inter-college migration is not a right, one might also have to come up with a strong case or a valid reason for migrating. Help and advice from teachers can be taken in this regard.
Eligibility
The student must belong to the undergraduate semester system in a regular DU college. Inter-college migration is not allowed at the post-graduate level.
Only students of B.A., B.Com, B.A. (Hons), B.Com (Hons), B.Sc (Hons) can apply for inter-college migration.
The student, at the time of applying for migration, must be in the beginning of the third semester, i.e. the beginning of second year.
The student must have a passing grade in both the first and second semester including main papers, concurrent courses, and qualifying subjects.
Some colleges also prescribe distance norms which needs to be checked by the student in advance.
Terms and Conditions
Migration to a different college doesn’t allow one to change their course.
Inter-college migration depends on the availability of vacant seats and the consent of principals from both the colleges.
Such transfers are also subject to the approval of the Academic Council of the University on individual merit of each case.
The percentage required for migration varies in different colleges, from course to course.
The seat is given on merit basis to the applicant, provided they have submitted their applications within the stipulated date and time as released by that particular college.
Documents Required
Both original and self-attested copies are required to be submitted to the administration office or teacher-in-charge of the respective department at the time of migration/admission in the college.

The provisional list of candidates recommended for migration will be displayed on the college website, college notice board, and/or departmental notice board in due course of time like this. Note that the instructions regarding payment of admission fees are specified in the document.
The necessary alteration in the enrolment entries shall be made by the Registrar in the University Registrar after obtaining the consent of both the principals in writing.
