Jabalpur: After one ABVP leader was booked for rape with a girl on pretext of marriage on Sunday, workers of NSUI and ABVP workers clashed at Gulauwa square in Jabalpur on Saturday night. The clash took place when NSUI workers reached the ABVP office for staging protests, alleging that ABVP leader Upendra Dhakad had been accused of rape by a survivor but the case had not been registered against him.
The situation became tense after which senior police officials, including Jabalpur SP Amit Singh, rushed to the spot to control the situation. Heavy police force was also deployed to control the sitation.
A case was later registered against Dhakad on Sunday. Women police station incharge Ratnakar Hingwe said, “A case has been registered against Dhakad for rape. The complainant had alleged that Dhakad had raped her on pretext of marriage. She had alleged that she and Dhakad did a course on yoga from Rani Durgavati University in Jabalpur and during that time, they came close to each other. Dhakad promised to marry her and raped her. She also alleged that Dhakad raped her several times at ABVP and BJP office and also forced her to undergo abortion witrh the help of a doctor from Dindori district”.
